The City of Bridgeport is governed by the Mayor and City Council form of government. The mayor, elected to four-year terms, is a non-voting member of the Bridgeport City Council. The four-member Council, also elected to four-year terms, decide all policy for the City of Bridgeport.

The Mayor and Council meet monthly (the first Thursday after the first Sunday) at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 809 Main Street. The official proceedings of all regular, special, and emergency meetings of the Mayor & City Council are published in the Bridgeport News-Blade, and posted online, by clicking here.
